Action Wipes were developed as a refreshing, natural travel wipe for the entire family and for athletes, campers and people on the move, by athletes, campers and people on the move!
Inventor Martha Van Inwegen saw the need for a natural wet wipe to clean & refresh the body after a ride, run, backpack long plane ride. She wanted a body wipe good for her whole family and safe for the environment. Above all, it needed to remove dirt, sweat and odor REALLY WELL. Martha mixed potions for a year before hitting on just the right combination of essential oils. And that “potion” became Action Wipes.
Martha spent the next few years talking Action Wipes to anyone who would listen (and wipe!) She gave away samples at Burning Man; cycling events; 5K, 10K and marathons; triathalons; climbing events; basically wherever she could find sweaty, dirty, smelly people who wanted to get clean & refreshed fast and sought a quick shower alternative. Naturally, with no residue. And Action Wipes developed a cult following, event by event, user by user, usually with Martha (smiling) nearby.
Fast forward a few years, and Martha brought her Action Wipes to the IDEA conference for personal trainers and fitness professionals. There she met Harbinger’s Director of Marketing Chanin Cook and a relationship was born. Chanin brought Action Wipes back to Harbinger and got President Dave McCrane hooked, and a true partnership was established.
As customers, you will have Harbinger’s warehousing and fulfillment resources serving your needs every day and with greater efficiency. With a greatly expanded retail presence, you’ll be seeing our full body wipes in a lot more places. Our online store at Actionwipes.com and Amazon won’t change in the short term, and will evolve to incorporate the Harbinger name.

Creator in Chief, Mom, Head Honcho
Martha was born and raised by her grandparents in the small town of San Pedro, Mexico until age six. During those formative years, her grandmother used only natural, handmade salves, soaps and body lotions from botanicals grown and gathered locally. Theirs was a simple life, one that didn’t include electricity or even running water in the home. The early lessons that Martha absorbed during this time would forever be etched in her mind. They built the foundation of her appreciation for the benefits of using all natural products.
Years later and living in Southern California, Martha developed typical teenage acne. With the memories of her grandmother’s natural cures, Martha started creating her own botanical formulations to enhance the effectiveness of acne medications. Martha furthered her knowledge and expertise in skin care in her after school job managing a local cosmetics counter, where she also set annual sales records for four years running. During the dotcom era Martha and a partner she formed a web development company called Bonafide Development Resources. The firm grew to a 40-person staff within 2 years and was acquired shortly thereafter.
Seeking a respite from the hi tech world, Martha followed her passion for naturally healthy products and founded Life Elements, a botanical, aromatherapy-based product line. An avid cyclist and outdoors person, Martha recognized the need for a natural wipe alternative to baby wipes in post-activity cleanup. After many trial-and-error batches of botanicals mixed in her kitchen, in 2007 Martha hit upon a formula of plant-derived ingredients including essential oils that was cleansing, refreshing and naturally antibacterial and antifungal.
Action Wipes was born -- and the natural, no rinse shower alternative first appeared at Burning Man, where Martha provided samples to Playa dwellers. The new full body wipe proved its effectiveness in that crucible of extreme heat, sandstorms, and limited access to water. The reviews were glowing. Word spread, orders came in, and it was clear that Martha had a viable product in Action Wipes. Action Wipes were officially launched at the Wildflower triathlon in May 2008, a fitting venue given her love of sport and the outdoors.
This year, Martha partnered with Harbinger to extend the reach of Action Wipes to more athletes, travelers, camper and families - for a cleaner, healthier life and planet (www.actionwipes.com
