was an action packed weekend at the 2013
Volkswagen Sea Otter Classic with
the Action Wipes team catching up with friends, sponsored athletes and cycling
of our first stops was the SRAM Ladies Lounge with 24-hour World Champion
mountain biker and Leadville 100 Women’s record holder, Rebecca Rusch, as part
of her 2013 Gold Rusch Tour. It was
a great event focused on women and included short clinics on cycling tech, gear
and fun give-aways. There was also solid one-on-one time with Rusch and other
SRAM-sponsored pros including Team Specialized-lululemon’s team owner and
manager, Kristy Scrymgeour and riders Ally Stacher and Ina-Yoko Teutenberg, who
was looking good, but still feeling
some effects of her concussion from her crash at Acht van Dwingeloo.
caught some fast women’s road racing with members of The Bay Area Velo Girls Cycling Club. Action Wipes has
been a long-time supporter and provider of body wipes for the Velo Girls and
the Savvy Bike coaching program, which
has been a tremendous bay area cycling resource focused on introducing girls
and women to the sport of recreational cycling and racing. Nice props for
Action Wipes from Tiina Aardemae...

Sunday, family friend Greg D was competing in the Men’s Cat 2 Dual Slalom 50+
category. (Old Guys Rule!). Greg was defending his 2012 win from last year and
held his own to finish on the podium again, but alas as 2nd place. However, the
race was so close, we’re of the opinion that he should have taken 1st
None-the-less, he is already
planning for next year, and we hear that Action Wipes team member Curt Van
Inwegen will be racing with him. We’ll be there with our cow bells boys!
(At least Greg didn't go home stinky!)
