Five Ways To Help The Environment This Summer

1. Reusable Straws:
With warm weather on its way (or already here) iced coffees are flying over the countertops, beach parties are underway, and plastic straws are finding their way into the ocean as usual. Some companies are making moves to ban straws entirely, and you can do the same! Check out The Last Straw, Brush With Bamboo straws, or, our personal favorite, The Final Straw. Make the change, save the turtles.
2. Upcycle Your Action Wipes:
Action Wipes are durable enough for the washing machine and versatile enough that they don't have to end up in a landfill. One of our favorite ways to upcycle Action Wipes? Clothing and accessories. Keep the hair out of your face and host a fun craft day with your friends by making your own Action Wipes UpCycled Collection. See below:
3. Leave No Trace (LNT):
Brush up on the Seven Principles of LNT, and bring them with you wherever you go this summer. LNT's Instagram account, @leavenotracecenter, is an excellent resource for stunning photos, outdoor tips, and friendly reminders on how to protect Mama Earth. Also, check out their website for LNT games if you've got kids!
4. Commit To Picking Up Micro-Trash:
Pack an empty bag with you on trips this summer, and challenge yourself to fill the bag with garbage. It'll likely be disheartening to see how much trash you collect, but invigorating at the same time. Our friend and yogi, Meagan Roar, @suptayoganantucket commits to picking up "A Bag A Day,"every day. While you're on Instagram, be sure to check out Lizzie Carr (@lizzie_outside) who is the Founder of Plastic Patrol.
5. Use Beeswax To Replace Plastic Wrap!
That's right. Sustainable storage, made from bees. (Is there anything bees don't do?) Check out Bees Wrap, Etsy, Amazon, or, try to make them yourself with this DIY tutorial.
