Taking a shower ... it just feels so good! If you’ve spent long stretches of time on the trail or in a third-world country, you may even view it as one of life’s great luxuries. While that fresh, happy feeling is definitely not to be overlooked, there are also many practical reasons to wash off.
Cleaning yourself after a long day outdoors helps to prevent gastric illness as well as bacterial infections. Let’s take a look at both:
Most backpackers, hikers, and travelers filter their water to keep it free of pathogens (viruses, bacteria, and protozoa), particulates, chemicals and heavy metals. It’s also important to keep these toxins off your body, and especially your hands, which you use to cook, eat, etc. Using Action Wipes to get rid of trail grime and clean up after a visit to the cathole will go a long way toward keeping your stomach settled.
definitely no showers here
Preventing bacterial infections, particularly for women, is also important. Choosing non-irritating clothing that lets air flow through those parts down there is a good first step. It’s also helpful to stay hydrated and limit caffeine. And, of course, hygiene is essential. Experts recommend changing into fresh undergarments and washing yourself off after exercise (cue Action Wipes ... the solution for when no showers are available). Action Wipes are safe for the ENTIRE body, so do as we say, “Start by washing high, then low, then in-between”
In addition to keeping you healthy, using Action Wipes while adventuring in the outdoors also keeps odors at bay. And, as an added benefit, they can be used to clean off poison ivy and poison oak oils. And since all the ingredients have anti-fungal or anti-bacterial properties, you can use them to clean up wounds to help prevent infection.
no showers out here either
