Life Elements, Inc. was founded by Martha Van Inwegen and originally started with one simple product: Action Wipes. Together with husband, Curt, they have created a fast-growing natural body care company with a range of products that cater to a wide continuum of people. Their customers include professional athletes and outdoor enthusiasts to an aging demographic using their new CBD & Honey line to repair long-abused skin and soothe the aches and pains of an active life. But for the last 2 years, they have also found themselves smack in the middle of a nationwide epidemic of firefighters who are being diagnosed with cancer.
A sobering fact of life for firefighters is that they have a much greater risk of cancer than the general US population. The insanely hot environments firefighters operate in increase the amount of toxins absorbed through the skin. When heat is a factor, your skin absorbs up to 68% of the ingredients put on it; and that number increases to 100% for underarms and genitalia.
Many body care products contain toxic chemicals, colors, and fragrances that can make their way into your blood and lymphatic system, especially as the skin warms. Action Wipes were the first body wipe on the market to receive the prestigious EWG VERIFIED™ status and that has helped them become one of the top "decon wipes" in the fire industry for fire departments looking for the best possible solution to help protect their firefighters from cancer.
Action Wipes are now in use by hundreds of fire departments across the US, Canada, Ireland & Australia as well as most of the local departments from Paso Robles down to San Diego and including CALFIRE and the US Forest Service. While the fire industry business is a smaller piece of their business, it is one that gives them great pride in playing a small part in improving safety for the men and women who work under stressful and physically demanding conditions while carrying 60 to 75 pounds of protective gear and equipment on their bodies.
In late April, Martha and Curt head to the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) in Indiana. Billed as the largest firefighter training conference and exhibition in the world, they will be showcasing their product to a global audience of firefighters looking for help in reducing their risk of cancer. Action Wipes will be at Booth #3730.
