“It reminds me of that really cool spa we went to on our vacation. . .”
When you think of a spa, what does it remind you of? Soothing, relaxing and that amazing scent of ... hmmmm? What was that scent? At some point in your spa experience, you probably enjoyed eucalyptus.
Eucalyptus oil is derived from the leaves of the eucalyptus tree, which dominates the landscape in Australia and are the food of choice for many a cute koala bear. It's that clean refreshing scent that helps to clear our sinuses, improve our clarity and loosen up sore muscles.
Like most essential oils, eucalyptus has a long history in folk medicine, particularly with the Aborigines of Australia, who used the leaves and the oil to keep wounds clean and prevent infection. It has a strong aroma and is widely used in steam rooms and baths that help to clear up sinus and respiratory passages.
We use eucalyptus in Action Wipes for a variety of reasons. Its antiseptic and cooling properties are beneficial to the skin, so they can be used to clean minor wounds such as road rash, soothe bug bites and camouflage bee pheromones after being stung to prevent attracting more bees and stings (but that’s a lesson for another time). Combined with the other essential oils and safe ingredients in Action Wipes, you have an amazing shower alternative that will leave you clean and refreshed – and feeling like you’re at the spa.
Fun Fact #1: Many ultrarunners keep an Action Wipe handy to help prevent nausea on longer runs by inhaling thru the eucalyptus-infused cloth.
Fun Fact #2: If you are repurposing your Action Wipes, put that dirty one at the bottom of a shower and you’ll not only end up with a clean wipe, but the remaining eucalyptus oils will steam up to give you a luxurious eucalyptus-scented aromatherapy shower!
