Compare Body Wipe Ingredients
What you put on your body is just as important as what you put in your body!
Skin can absorb up to 68% of ingredients put on it, 100% for underarms and genitalia. Harmful ingredients such as harsh, toxic chemicals, colors, and fragrances can make their way into your body, your blood and lymphatic system.
As more and more wet wipes come to market, it is important to know that not all body wipes are created equal, and not all brands* care to list their complete list of ingredients on their websites. So, we're doing it for you. Now you can make an informed decision when it comes to your personal care. Body wipes should be safe to use, not toxic - we've included links to EWG Skin Deep database ratings on suspect ingredients. Action Wipes TOTAL EWG Rating is 1.
It’s also important to note that ingredients are listed in order of quantity. And some ingredients, while safe on their own, such as Sodium Benzoate can become toxic when mixed with other ingredients, such as Tocopheryl Acetate (vitamin E) or citric acid (vitamin C) as this causes benzene to be formed. Benzene is a known carcinogen.
We also caution you on "antibacterial" wipes as the FDA is studying the safety and efficacy of hand sanitizers and wipes that use alcohol (ethanol or ethyl alcohol), isopropyl alcohol and benzalkonium chloride, which are found in may brands. You can read about it here.IT'S YOUR BODY - YOU DECIDE...

What are those ingredients?
Benzalkonium Chloride: A biocide, preservative and surfactant associated with severe skin, eye, and respiratory irritation and allergies, benzalkonium chloride is a sensitizer especially dangerous for people with asthma or skin conditions such as eczema.
DMDM Hydantoin: Hydantoin is an organic derivative of urea (see above) and glycolic acid, and is used medically in products like Ecstasy and anti-convulsive medicines for Epilepsy. DMDM Hydantoin is coming under more scrutiny as of late because it is a formaldehyde releaser, meaning it releases formaldehyde. Like the stuff they use in embalming fluid and film processing chemicals.
Fragrance/Parfum: This may appear harmless, but when a label list fragrance or parfum, it may indicate as many as 4,000 different compounds. Many of these can lead to health problems, respiratory distress, and may even be carcinogenic and impose fertility issues or complications.
Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate (IPBC): Originally used in the wood and paint industry, it is now recognized as a toxic ingredient in the cosmetics industry and restrictions have been applied. IPBC a suspected gastrointestinal and liver toxin.
Isoparaffin: Chemical derived. As a gas, you may know these as butane and propane. As a liquid you may know them as octane, and as a solid they are used in candles. Isoparaffin is derivied from oil (like the kind that spilled in the Gulf of Mexico) and is used as a thickening agent. They do not bio-degrade rapidly.
Methylisothiazolinone (MIT) & Methylchloroisothiazolinone: Chemical derived preservatives with high allergen reactions. Was used in many leave-in products such as conditioners, but are now regularly seen in rinse-off products. High concentrations can cause chemical burns.
Parabens (Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Propylparaben): Chemical derived preservatives and anti-fungals which have been found in breast cancer tumors. May also cause damage to the endocrine system of your body and have been found to cause allergy risks in children.
Phenoxyethanol: An anti-bacterial and stabilizer found in normal stuff like cosmetics, perfume and... jet fuel. The FDA is looking into this one because it can cause vomiting and diarrhea in infants by depressing the central nervous system.
Propyleneglycol: A liquid alcohol that is used as a solvent in antifreeze and in the food, plastics and perfume industries.
Sodium Laureth/Lauryl Sulfate (SLS): Is it bad, or isn't it? There's a lot of debate on both sides of the issue, so we decided to stay away from the whole thing and keep Action Wipes SLS free. But what is SLS? It's a foaming agent known to cause irritation and some say can lead to cancer. Used mainly in shampoos, toothpastes, laundry soaps, stain removers, and edible bubbles.
Triclosan: Chemical derived anti-bacterial agent which the U.S. FDA is currently reviewing regarding the safety to humans after studies show altered hormone regulation. Also being investigated is how triclosan is promoting anti-biotic resistant bacteria, which may cause allergy risks in children. Mainly used on toothpaste to prevent the gum disease GINGIVITIS.
Urea: Sounds like urine; doesn't it? While it's non-toxic and highly soluble in water, it's synthetically formulated urine. Also used as a source of nitrogen in fertilizers and in animal feed and diuretics.
